The 8th CAMOT International Conference 2018 is organized by China Association for Management of Technology - CAMOT - and South-Eastern Finland University of Applied Sciences - XAMK - in co-operation with international, national and regional partners. Esteemed keynote speakers will introduce their insight of the conference themes.

The conference is an excellent meeting, networking and discussion forum in the beautiful scenery of Savonlinna, Finland. It gathers together thinkers, academics and experts from businesses, private and public sector government to share latest ideas, discuss and debate issues and challenges around the themes of CAMOT 2018.

Savonlinna and Lake Saimaa are also the home of Saimaa ringed seal, one of the most endangered seals in the world, having a total population of only about 380 individuals in Lake Saimaa, seen next to this window.

Prof. Richard Li-Hua, PhD, the Founder of the theory of Embracing Innovation and Camot Innovation Academy Cambridge

“Embracing Innovation and Strategic Opportunity Period of Finland”

Prof. Li-Hua is a famous strategy scholar and the Founder of China’s Embracing Innovation theory, is well-known for his research on China’s innovation and innovation strategy. He is currently Visiting Professor at Henley Business School, Reading University and the President of Camot Innovation Academy Cambridge, UK.  He is senior expert of science & technology endorsed by EU Patent Office and MOST, China and an internationally recognized authority on international technology transfer and innovation. He is Honorary President of SIAS International University and served as President & Vice Chancellor of SIAS International University, China (2014-2017).

He is also President of China Association for Management of Technology (CAMOT) founded in 2006 at Tsinghua University. He is Distinguished Professor of Strategic Management & Leadership and Strategic Advisor, Penn State University, USA and Beijing Normal University, Zhuhai, China. He was Visiting Scholar at Judge Business School, Cambridge University, UK and is Strategic Advisor at Research Centre of Technology Innovation, Tsinghua University, China.

Dr. Thorben Hänel
Senior Lecturer
University of Sunderland, England

“Networked Innovation – Examining the Role of Creativity and Disruption”

Dr Thorben Hänel is a Senior Lecturer in Strategic Management & Innovation at the University of Sunderland and heads the department for Postgraduate Business Programs at the London Campus. Having previously lived and worked in China he is strongly involved in the external engagement of the university in China and with their newly-established campus in Hong Kong, furthermore he continues to undertake research on the effectiveness and appropriateness of international technology transfer and innovation strategies, namely technology transfer-based innovation systems, in particular between German and Chinese firms.

He is a Visiting Professor at Wenzhou University, Visiting Lecturer at Hubei University of Economics and Shanghai University of Finance & Economics and Member of the Boards of the China Association for Management of Technology (CAMOT), Cambridge, and EMSS, London. His professional experience involves corporate roles and consultancy activities in financial and strategic managerial accounting as well as academic posts at universities in the UK, Germany, France and China. Previously he has been working as a Research Fellow at the Sino-German Centre (CDHK) at Tongji University, Shanghai, Business Partner M&A for Asia Solution in Shanghai and London, and at senior level as Director of Accounting and Financial Controlling for a market-leading real estate project development and urban construction group in Bremen/Wiesbaden, Germany. Prior he began his career in the portfolio management for a German real estate investment bank. He is a fellow of the Higher Education Academy and holds memberships in the German Association for Asian Studies (DGA), the Chartered Management Institute (CMI) and Chartered Institute for Personnel and Development (CIPD).

Professor Indrek Ibrus
Professor of media innovation, Baltic Film, Media, Arts and Communication School (BFM), Tallinn University

“Cross-innovation: How audiovisual media industries start coinnovating with the health care sector”

Indrek Ibrus is a professor of media innovation at Tallinn University’s (TLU) Baltic Film, Media, Arts and Communication School (BFM). He is also the head of TLU’s Centre of Excellence in Media Innovation and Digital Culture (MEDIT). Currently his main research area are the innovative reuses of digitised cultural heritage contents, but he also leads research projects on cross-innovation, cross- and transmediality, media and cultural policies. He is the co-editor of “Crossmedia Innovations: Texts, Markets, Institutions” (together with Carlos A. Scolari; Peter Lang, 2012). Prof. Ibrus received his PhD from London School of Economics and Political Science.

Elli Aaltonen

Director General of Kela – the Social Insurance Institution of Finland

“Leadership challenges in the Finnish Social Insurance Institution for the ensuring of the wellbeing services”

Director General of Kela – the Social Insurance Institution of Finland as of 1 January 2017. From 2005 to 2009, Director General of the Regional State Administrative Agency for Eastern Finland. During 2010-2016 Mrs. Aaltonen operated as a Counsellor of Social Welfare and Health Affairs at the Provincial State Office for Eastern Finland and as a Director of social welfare and health care for the municipalities and joint municipal authorities.

Advisory positions at the Ministry of Social Affairs and Health, the Ministry for Foreign Affairs, the Ministry of Education and Culture, the National Authority for Medicolegal Affairs, and the National Research and Development Centre for Welfare and Health (Stakes).

Mrs. Aaltonen has received degrees in entrepreneurship and EU expertise, research in the field of retail and banking, EU advisory positions in e.g. Ukraine and Russia. Alongside work, Mrs. Aaltonen officiates in several positions as president of national and civic organisations in the field of child welfare, geriatrics, and disability.

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 


Dr. Sirkka Jakonen
PhD (Health Care, Nursing Sciences)
Director General in Regional State Administrative Agency for Eastern Finland

“Multi-sectoral welfare and health promotion to ensure public health in Finland”

She has responsibility of leadership and management of the strategically agreements made with 8 ministries (Ministry of Finance, Ministry of Social and Health Affairs, Ministry of Education and Culture, Ministry of Justice, Ministry of Employment and Economy, Ministry of Agriculture and Forestry, Ministry of Internal Affairs and Ministry of Environment).

She has direct line management for five (5) departments of this territorial state agency. Her tasks include management, financial responsibility and leadership of over 140 employees and the annual budget of the agency, co-operation with local and national authorities, with politicians in the Finnish Parliament as well as law preparation in working groups and committees and commenting draft legislation.

The Regional State Administrative Agencies’ mission is to promote regional equality by carrying out executive, steering and supervisory tasks laid down in the law. To this end, they aim to strengthen implementation of basic rights, legal protection and access to basic public services. They aim to strengthen environmental protection, environmental sustainability, public safety and also to provide a safe and healthy living and working environment in the regions.

Before coming to Regional Administrative Agency 2002, Jakonen served as researcher in The University of Kuopio (currently The University of Eastern Finland, UEF) in The European Network of Health Promoting Schools: the alliance of education and health (WHO). Earlier she worked in various tasks in social and health care sector, for example health education, health promotion and management since 1975.

 

William H.A. Johnson, Associate Professor of Management
Pennsylvania State University-Erie

“Metaphors in Resourcing Innovation Practices: The ResourceInnovative Innovator”

William H.A. Johnson (Bill) is Associate Professor of Management at the Sam and Irene Black School of Business at Pennsylvania State University-Erie, the Behrend Campus. His research and teaching interests are at the intersections of innovation, strategy and international management. He has written two books, Project Strategy and Strategic Portfolio Management: A Primer (w/ D. Parente) and Innovation in China: The Tail of the Dragon, both with Business Expert Press.

Recently his published papers were cited in the top 11% of Intellectual Capital studies and top 16% of New Product Development studies according to Google Scholar citations. Examples of journals he’s published in include: IEEE Transactions on Engineering Management, Technovation, Research Policy, and Entrepreneurship: Theory and Practice, among others. Beyond awards for research, he recently was honored with an Emerald Literati Outstanding Reviewer award from Emerald Publishing in 2018.

Prof Guy Liu
Professor in economics and Head of Peking University HSBC Business School UK Campus

Professor Guy S. Liu (刘芍佳教授)obtained his PhD at Oxford University, and specialized in economics of industry with a particular interest to China’s enterprise reform and development. Currently, he is a professor in economics and Head of Peking University HSBC Business School UK Campus.  He was professor and a former head of Economics and Finance Department at Brunel University London. He was a visiting professor at Leiden University, honoured professor at School of Management of Fudan University (2009 -2016), and adjunct professor of Sichuan University (2001-2008) in China. He lectured the economy of China at Leiden University.

His research papers have been published widely in internationally leading journals such as the Economic Journal, Journal of Industrial Economics, Journal of Comparative Economics, World Development, Economics Letters, China Economic Review, Journal of Banking and Finance, Energy Economics etc. He has pursued his research on Chinese enterprise reform since 1989 and is an author of two books: ‘Economic Reform and Chinese State-owned Manufacturing Enterprises 1980-87’ (1996), and ‘Exit the dragon? Privatization and state controls in China’ (2005). He has been invited as a guest editor for special issues on China’s economy and enterprise reform in a number of Journals including China Economic Review, Economics of Planning and Corporate Governance –An International Review, Studies in Economics and Finance, Energies and an editor as well for Journal of Chinese Economic and Business Studies (Routledge).

He has also been involved in policy-advisory work on Chinese enterprise reform for both British and Chinese government, and was a principal researcher for the World Bank funded project on China’s privatization and enterprise restructuring in 2006. In 2008 he has been awarded of the EU scheme (Marie Curie) FP7 Industry academia partnership funding in joint with other two European institutions for study on China’s electricity industry. In 2016-2017 he was appointed by the UK government prosperity funds to lead a research project on electricity trading market for Yunnan Government’s electricity market reform. He also has been an advisor for Chongqing government of China in acquisition of UK companies and the advisor for Chongqing Machine and Electric Co.Ltd. He was a senior consultant for Asian Development Bank and Development Centre of State Council of China for their joint research project on promoting market competition in the Chinese industry and economy (2016). He is a regular commentator on China’s economic and business affairs for BBC.

Teija Lahti-Nuuttila, M.Sc. (Eng.),

“Innovations creating growth and welfare”

Teija Lahti-Nuuttila is professional in innovation strategies and funding. She has 25 years of work experience from both private and public sector especially in the areas of research and development, sustainable use of natural resources and cleantech.

Teija Lahti-Nuuttila is currently operating as Executive Director at Business Finland Oy. She is responsible for the service area Ecosystems. Mrs Lahti-Nuuttila is a graduate of Åbo Akademi University where she received a Master´s of Science degree in Process Technology.

Through her career Mrs Lahti-Nuuttila has achieved extensive understanding of the function of the whole innovation chain. She has also international experience and she has worked in several committees and steering groups both in Finland and abroad. She is an invited member of the Finnish Academy of Technical Sciences and she has awarded with honor of Knight, First Class, of the Order of the White Rose of Finland

Dr Yinshan Tang is Vice Dean of Henley Business School and a Professor in Management Informatics at Henley Business School who teaches IT Project Management, Applied Informatics, Organisation Design and Performance Management at MSc level for over 10 years. He had industry experience working for a business consulting firm as a Business Unit Manager for 6 years before coming to Reading 2004. He worked as a Parasitologist for over 17 years.
