Xamk is starting regular Certiport certificate testing in the Xamk Certiport testing center in Mikkeli. The testing center offers Microsoft MCE, MTA and MOS certificate tests. There a course fee of 30-50€, depending on the selected test. Additionally a 15-25€ voucher fee is required for each exam attempt. The tests take place on every first Tuesday of each month (excluding July-August) at 16:00 in Mikpoli class MB316.
MCE (Microsoft Certified Educator) is a 3-credit topic suitable for teachers and it familiarizes with modern teaching methods and technologies as well as using them to support classes. MTA (Microsoft Technology Associate) certificates are also worth 3 credits and they include fundamental knowledge on IT-related topics like operating systems, computer networks, information security, databases etc. MOS (Microsoft Office Specialist) are 5-credit tests and they include skills related to the Microsoft Office tools (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Access, Outlook).
Each certificate consists of a PDF book and practice materials, which are studied independently. The certificate exam is either a 45-minute multiple choice online test (MTA) or a 50-minute practical test with the corresponding Office tool (MOS). Especially the MOS tests are excellent for also other than IT persons and allow developing the personal Office skills, which will make work and study tasks more fluent.
