Education development enquiry results from 2019

The information gathered through the education development enquiries helps to further develop the education, study counselling and student’s self-steering, the learning environment and the general working environment. All Bachelor and Master degree students respond to the education development enquiry in the middle of their studies.

Education development enquiry was open from mid September until the end of October. Enquiry was for students who are about half way through their studies.  This year we got 708 replies. From the replies 75% was from students who were in full- time studies, 23% were in part- time studies and 2% in online studies.

Question were as propositions and rating scale was as follows: 1 = very poorly, 2 = quite poorly, 3 = not well or poorly, 4 = quite well, 5 = very well and I can`t say –answer option, that was not included when calculating average scores.

 

Education development enquiry results from 2019 Bachelor degree programme

Best results in the Xamk scores were in the following propositions:

  • “it has been possible to include virtual study modules” 4,2
  • “in my education the students are encouraged to take responsibility for their own studies” 4,2
  • “I am aware of the aims and content of my education” 4
  • “I have been able to accelerate my studies” 4

 

Equality and students counseling were quite well. These were in the best average scores also last year. Best scores were in propositions “in my education the students are treated equally” 3,9 and “I can get study counselling when needed” 3,9.

 

Lowest average scores were at the following propositions:

  • “this education highlights entrepreneurial attitude and entrepreneurship” 3,1 and 50 “very poorly” answers.
  • “I have received sufficient information about recognition of prior learning (RLP)” 3,3 and 42 “very poorly” answers.
  • “the flow of information in my education is well functioning” 3,3

 

Best average scores were from following educations:

Degree programme in business information technology Mikkeli and Degree programme in civic activities and youth work Mikkeli. Good average scores were at following programmes aswell: Degree programme in civic activities and youth work Kouvola and Game design Kouvola, Degree programme in nursing Kotka and Information technology Mikkeli.

 

Differences in online and full- time studies:

Full- time, part- time and online studies were in the background information. We had 13 replies from online students. Some programmes are completely online in the future, then we can get more credible results for comparison.

 

Education development enquiry results from 2019 Masters degree programme

We received 99 replies, last year we had 68 replies. Questions were the same as previous years.

 

Best results in the Xamk scores were in the following propositions:

  • “it has been possible to include virtual study modules” 4,7
  • “I am aware of the aims and content of my education” 4,4
  • “it has been possible to combine studies with my work” 4,4
  • “in my education the students are encouraged to to take responsibility for their own studies” 4,5

 

Lowest average scores were at the following propositions:

  • “my education supports internationalization” 3,3
  • “this education highlights entrepreneurial attitude and entrepreneurship” 3,1
