In accordance with the guidelines issued by Kymsote on Thursday 7 January, the recommendation to organise instruction remotely in Kymenlaakso also applies to higher education institutions.  Resulting from this, all students of Xamk’s Kouvola and Kotka campuses, including new students starting in January, will study remotely between 11 January and 31 January 2021. Simulation and laboratory exercises and Paja workshop training are arranged on campus, using the required protection.

The course teachers will provide their students with more specific information on the remote teaching arrangements.

Hybrid model in Mikkeli and Savonlinna

In line with the decision made by Mikkeli City regarding recreational facilities, the sports and other recreational facilities on Mikkeli campus are also closed until 23 January.

In Mikkeli and Savonlinna, the spring semester will be launched with the hybrid model. This means that some students study on campus, while some are taught remotely.

Students in Mikkeli and Savonlinna who started their studies in autumn 2020 or are starting in January 2021 will study on campus, with the exception of Information Technology, which is taught remotely.

Theoretical instruction for continuing students is arranged remotely until further notice.  Practical instruction, including simulations, laboratory work, Paja workshop exercises and similar, will be organised on campus for all students, in accordance with the respective plans. Anyone participating in these must wear a mask.
