Prakhar Sharma studies Business Administration as his major subject. Prakhar thinks that the best part about the studies at Xamk is that students get to practice and learn from practical real-life cases. There are always different types of projects going on in the RDI department of Xamk, which is the biggest among all Finnish universities of applied sciences, and students can get involved and pursue their interests.

Hi! Can you tell us what made Finland stand out as your study destination?

After I graduated from high school, I did my research into various universities considering where to pursue my higher education. Surprisingly, I found out about Finland and how its education system is one of the best and most respected in the whole world. Also, some other things about the country, like the closeness with the nature alongside with all the advancement in its society as well as the safety and comfort of the residents made it the perfect place for me to pursue my studies.

Why Xamk is so special that you decided to study over here?

Xamk was always on top of my list ever since I found about the opportunity to study in Finland. In fact, the school’s website and info service made it really easy for me to find all the information that I needed. It was my first source/medium by which I got to obtain all the information starting from which courses to consider to the process of studies as a whole. Once I selected my degree preference as BBA International Business and found out about the campus along with its numerous amenities, there was no turning back.

So what has been the best part in your studies so far?

The best part about the studies here is that whatever I learn, I get to practice and apply its usage in real-life practical cases. The systematic way in which the studies are carried out here is amazing. There is no psychological pressure whatsoever on students and you learn so much from even the small things. There are always different types of projects going on in the RDI department of Xamk, which is the biggest among all Finnish universities of applied sciences, and students can get involved and pursue their interests.

What about teaching – tell us little bit about that? What about practical orientation?

The teachers are all experts in their fields and their way of teaching is more advanced and different than I have ever experienced. In a majority of our courses, assessment is evenly based on exams and assignments, and the best part about them is, as I said before, learning the practical usage of classroom lessons for the real life. Just like the students, teachers at Xamk are from all around the world, which makes the studies more diverse.

How does Xamk provide you with support, advice and guidance?

There are professionals at Xamk who are always there for offering support and guidance regarding various different things ranging from studies, exchange programs and finding practical training to physical and mental health. Moreover, the helpful nature of people makes it even easier to approach and get help anytime it’s needed.

Do you think that your degree programme gives you the skills you need in working life? What is the best part in your programme?

Kouvola, with its amazing natural beauty and calm environment is the best place for a student to be and adding to it are the people from all walks of life who study, work and live their lives happily. All this motivates me to excel as well.

What kinds of plans do you have in the near future? What are your career plans?

For the near future, I am just planning to have my practical training as well thesis done so that when I graduate I have good opportunities along the way. Apart from that, trying to get the best out of this summer. 🙂
