New student's checklist

There is a lot of information provided for the new students.  To sum up the most important steps for beginning the studies, you should check that at least these issues are on the top of your priority list:

  • Confirm the study place and enrol as student by the given deadline
  • Submit your certificate copies by the given deadline, if not submitted earlier
  • Apply for student housing
  • Have your own device ready for the studies, according to Xamk BYOD-policy and collect your student user code from the authetication service, if available for you.

In addition, students from outside Finland should consider the following:

  • Pay the tuition fee by the given deadline, if required
  • Apply for a residence permit, if needed
  • Have the health examination done by a medical professional (nurse or doctor) in your home country and bring the health certificate with you in the beginning of studies.
Prior studies in a higher education institution
  • If you have prior higher education studies that may be used for credit transfer, have the certificates with you in Kouvola/Mikkeli. You can consult your mentor teacher about the possibility for credit transfer during your personal study plan discussion. The certificates must be officially translated into English, if not originally written in English or Finnish language.
