The Finnish Institute for Health and Welfare (THL) recommends educational institutions to temporarily interrupt all short-term student exchanges from abroad to Finland and from Finland abroad. The recommendation only concerns new student exchanges due to start from this day onwards. Short-term student exchanges mean, for instance, intensive courses and language and cultural exchanges lasting only a few weeks as well as other exchanges shorter than a semester.

South-Eastern Finland University of Applied Sciences (Xamk) sets out to act in accordance with the THL recommendation and interrupts students’ exchanges starting from 3 February 2021, after which no new foreign exchange students will be received to any of Xamk’s campuses or places of practical training during this spring. Xamk’s International Services Advisors will contact the students who have applied to come to Xamk for studies or practical training in the spring of 2021. Correspondingly, no Xamk students will be sent on exchange during this spring any more.

Exchanges lasting a semester or a whole academic year will be allowed, taking into account the THL guidelines on corona testing and quarantines related to travelling. The application period for Xamk students wishing to go on exchange in the autumn of 2021 will end on 7 February 2021, and these applications will be processed in the normal way.
