Quota for first-time applicants

The higher education institutions may reserve some of the study places for those applicants who do not hold a higher education qualification or a higher education study place in Finland.

The quota is a way to ensure that as many applicants as possible will get a study place.

You are not considered as a first-time applicant if

you have already completed a higher education degree in a university of applied sciences or university in Finland
you have accepted a study place in a higher education degree programme in Finland that started in autumn 2014 or after.

Quota for first-time applicants at Xamk

There is an 85% quota for first-time applicants in nearly all Bachelor’s degree programmes conducted in Finnish at Xamk where the general admission criteria is applied. The quota does not concern the the degree programmes in English.
