Mikkeli / Savonlinna region
Mikkeli is a lively summer town. We have a famous market square in the heart of the town where you can enjoy the local café entrepreneurs’ products and enjoy the atmosphere. Cycling is is a convenient way for exploring the town and its surroundings. We also have Mikke train which is a cheap way to see different places in the town’s centre. We recommend to visit Mikkeli park which is a beautiful place to spend free time and relax. There are many good restaurants in town. You can also have lunch and do some shopping in Kenkävero vicarage which is located close to Mikkeli Park and Tertti manor which is a little bit further from the centre but offers an unique travel experience.
Mikkeli area offers good possibilities for outdoor activities such as paddling, canoeing, swimming and cycling. Saimaa Stadiumi which is a unique complex for sports, experiences and wellness is located quite close
to campus and is worth visiting. We also recommend to take part in our trip where you can experience sauna as Finland is sauna’s homeland. Sauna experience takes care of your body and soul. By taking part in the cooking course you learn to cook Finnish food and the best part of it – you can taste the food you prepared.
Town Savonlinna is located at 100 km distance from Mikkeli and is a beautiful summer town by lake Saimaa. It has an international atmosphere in the summer as the famous Opera festival is arranged annually in an old Olavinlinna castle. It is a perfect option for a day/weekend trip.
Studying in Finland is not just about the studies. It is a chance to make friends, build networks, and experience something new.
Finland is a safe country where things work and nature is always close by.
