Friday November 5th – Sunday November 7th

Xamk Game Jam II starts the Game Week in advance. With Game Jam, people interested in games and gaming come together to develop an idea and prototype of a new game in 48 hours.

Monday November 8th

PARK project Muotoilupyrähdys brings together tourism operators, Xamk students and experts in the gaming industry and design. We are thinking about how to develop travel products by utilising models, technologies and elements in the gaming industry. Muotoilupyrähdys is a part of the activities of the PARK Gaming Industry Project, funded by the European Social Fund, towards pandemic-resistant education. This program is in Finnish only.

Tuesday November 9th

Games Exhibition will bring MusicFairyTails Oy’s Satuseinä OiOi game to the FUEL space on the Kouvola campus. Company is involved with Baltic Explorers project. Come and learn how product development at MusicFairyTails is being implemented. Check out the company here.

Games Exhibition also displays student-made games and digital projects developed with Xamk Game Studios and Xamk Proto Studio projects. There are both products from students’ own ideas and customer projects. Welcome to meet the students and their projects in the exhibition department.

Wednesday November 10th

The case study presentation has been unfortunately cancelled. However, you’re welcome to come and test the Great Escape Game!

As of 11:30 a.m., “The Great Escape Game” – background and case study, as well as testing the game in FUEL mode. How are end users integrated into the formatting process? How can functional art be utilized in university studies? What does Italian street theater Commedia del’Arte, the precursor to the farcies comedy, have to do with the game’s characters and the Design Dimensions exhibition? The 8^th and 9^th graders of the Eskolanmäki School’s hitech and expressive skills line have played a significant expert role in the first game of the interactive game wall and in the service design process. The Great Escape Game was commissioned as an instrument of audience work for the Kouvola Theatre’s 60th anniversary this is a robbery farce comedy as part of a collaboration between the theatre’s Taidetestaajat project and Xamk’s C3E.

Starting at 1:00 p.m., Game Talk about using game design logic to create apps in non-game environments. Starting at 1:30 p.m. Sohva Talk, where experts and possibly students casually discuss the positive experiences offered by games and the untapped potential of gamification.

Starting at 3:00 p.m., Mikä On Discord? The event will explore the Discord platform, which is especially popular among young people. Organised by the INDIE project (ESF).

In addition, the game art installation of the Waypoint project (ESF) brings game art to the gallery.

There is also Sijoita tulevaisuuteen -event on Wednesday. You will also hear inspiring growth company stories from Kymenlaakso and you can even book a sparring time from a finance or business development professional. Read more here.

Friday 12 November – Sunday 14 November

The Kino Cup will be held for the first time. During the event, the goal is to compete to win the tournament in three games:

League of Legends
CS:GO
NHL21

The tournament in each game consists of two parts: qualifiers and a main tournament. The qualifiers will take place online and the final matches will be played on site in Kouvola. Welcome to watch the games!

On Saturday, November 13th, in connection with the finals tournament, there will be a chance to challenge SJ Gaming’s Jere “Jimpphat” Salo and take a round of CS:GO with him.

Sunday 14 November, the final match will be commentated by Ricky “T-Panda” Kangasmäki, who was born in Kouvola and he is currently commentating other esport tournaments at YLE.
