Learning outcomes:
You are able to describe the main characteristics of the Finnish society – history, way of life, economic and business environment and working opportunities, identify and describe the new trends in the development of the Finnish society, name famous Finns and their contribution to the image of Finland worldwide, identify the trend sand the challenges in the development of the Finnish society, summarise the knowledge orally and in writing in English, find information, enhance your own expertise and also contribute some of it to the other participants in the course, communicate effectively in English on these subjects

Contents and methods:
What is the past of the Finnish nation?
What is social development in Finland?
What are the roots of the economy and what is the economy today?
What is studying and working in Finland like?
What is the international business today like?
How to communicate on these topics in English?

Assessment:
In order to complete the course you have to finish the assignments – active participation
through Learn is required. The exam is a multiple-choice questions quiz that contains basic facts about Finland. You can complete it only after all the other requirements are met. 0 – fail; 1-2 – satisfactory; 3-4 – good; 5 – excellent

Certificate of these studies will be delivered 
 – in paper form for those who have their home address in Finland
 – by email in PDF form for those who have their home address in some other country.

This course is based on the curricula of Xamk's degree programmes and the Finnish credits are fully compatible with the ECTS.
