Learning outcomes:
The student learns how to separate different forms of pain, how to assess the pain by using suitable assessment methods and knows how to choose different treatments variously. The student knows how to apply the knowledge in the patients or clients treatment and rehabilitation.
Contents and methods:
The content consists from 5 topics, from which 1. and 2. are mandatory and the rest three the student can choose from topics 3-5. The topics are:
- The definition of pain (1 course credit, mandatory)
- The assessment of pain (2 course credits, mandatory)
- The medical treatment of pain (1 course credit)
- Non-medicated pain relief (1 course credit)
- Chronic pain and pain management (1 course credit).
Assessment: passed/failed
This course is based on the curricula of Xamk's degree programmes and the Finnish credits are fully compatible with the ECTS.
