Learning outcomes:

  • You can describe the systems of harvesting and transportingenergy wood.
  • You can evaluate the technical, economic and ecologic sustainability of energy wood production.
  • You can estimate the consequences of policy changes for the forest sector.

Contents and methods:

  • How to chooseenergy wood harvesting sites? 
  • How do you select the harvesting system? 
  • How do you transport and handle energy wood? 
  • How do you organise the storage of energy wood?

The course covers 5 ECTS credits, totalling 135 hours of student work. The number of hours is theoretical and varies according to student effort.

This course is a self-study course, which you can carry out at your own pace (within the overall time limits of the course).

Pleace notice, that during the summer break, teacher’s guidance is not available, and assessments are not recorded.

Assessment criteria:
Students can:
a) use professional vocabulary and concepts in an expert way in different situations
b) choose appropriate models, methods, software and techniques according to the purpose and justify these choices
c) work as team members in working life expert duties and identify and describe the problems of the professional field.
