Finland wide 5G Future Logistics Hackathon with simultaneous online satellite events at universities across Finland

Introduction

Xamk will coordinate the first nationwide 5G Future Logistics Satellite Hackathon from 20th to 22nd May 2021. Satellite means there will be three teams from each partner solving three logistics cases simultaneously. Cases are Mussalo harbor, RRT Rail Terminal, and Helsinki East-Aerodrome at Pyhtää airport.

Selected teams will work in O365 environment of their own university at the same time as other teams around Finland. Participating teams can work online or physically in the same city depending on the COVID-19 restrictions of the area.

Elisa Oyj will invite all participants to their Virtual 5G Showroom for an inspirational tour on Friday 21st May morning at 9.00 – 9.30.

RRT- TERMINAL: CONCEPTS FOR FUTURE TRUCK PARK USING 5G AUTOMATION SERVICES

The Rail Road Terminal (RRT) in Kouvola, Finland is a major logistics hub, with both national and international logistics traffic. Freight trains travel from Kouvola as far as China. The challenge is concepts for the future truck park using 5G automation services. The amount of trucks is a maximum of 70 at the same time.

HELSINKI EAST-AERODROME: HOW 5G CAN BE UTILIZED IN AIRPORT BUSINESS

The Helsinki East-Aerodrome is a new airport in Pyhtää, Finland. They are at the forefront of developing new business concepts in smaller-scale flight logistics.
