Background
The technology sector is a major growth industry and employer in South Savo, employing a total of about 2,000 people. Various challenges in staffing and competence have been found in these companies. The background to this project is the growth of digitalisation, different needs for competence development and related continuous learning as well as the training needs that came up from companies during the TEKOS 2020 project. The project has been prepared in co-operation with the association Technology Industries of Finland, companies in the industry, Xamk – South-Eastern Finland University of Applied Science and Samiedu – Vocational college of Savonlinna. In addition, on preparation of the project has utilized discussions with business network in the sector to analyse expertise needs in both the short and long term.
The objectives of the OSKU 2025 project
Increasing competence of staff and sharing information to production and technology in both management and application.
By developing company-oriented training and the supply of know-how, the future growth and competitiveness of the South Savo technology industry will be ensured by strengthening the competence needed by companies’ personnel.
The project produces various trainings and digital learning content to meet the development needs of companies. These will contribute to the positive productivity and business development of the region’s technology companies and strengthen the sector’s attractiveness.
