Here at Xamk we are interested in developing and supporting eSports!

At the moment we have teams in League of Legends and Counter-Strike: Global Offensive!

The basis was created in E-Sports Games Ecosystem (ESGE) project, which found and united eSports organizations and professionals in events and co-operations.

The future of eSports at Xamk involves RDI projects and upcoming eSports courses providing basic and deeper insights into the eSports industry.

About us

History

Xamk’s first venture into eSports happened through the E-Sports Games Ecosystem (ESGE) project. It created an eSports ecosystem within the Kymenlaakso region between the fall of 2019 and spring of 2022.

The project’s goal was to gather information about eSports awareness in the Kymenlaakso region, as well as help organizations interested in eSports arrange events and connect with each other.

During the project ESGE organized many events, which included the biggest event Kino Cup, the most viewed event Kymi Cup, as well as international events with other universities, such as the Itmo Cup and Valencia cooperations.

The ESGE -project also enhanced to create Xamk’s first eSports teams! Two League of Legends teams, Tea Time and V-Kings, and two Counter-Strike: Global Offensive (CS:GO) teams were established with enthusiastic Xamk students. The CS:GO team managed to play at a fairly high level, competing in the Educational Masters league.

You can learn more about ESGE’s events, insights and conclusions from the publication (in Finnish).

ESGE accomplished its task of creating, finding and uniting eSports organizations and professionals in events and co-operations.
