Building as an Educator is a webinar on architecture and design education and inspiring learning environments. Experts’ presentations illustrate methods of Architecture & Design education and participatory design and explore inspiring learning environments. Tehtaanmäki school building and its heritage values are showcased
online. The webinar is for teachers, educators, developers, and others interested in the
topic.
Webinar is one of the many events on the Alvar Aalto week in Kouvola, Finland.

Tehtaanmäki school in Inkeroinen, Kouvola, South-Eastern Finland was designed by Alvar Aalto for children as a modern learning environment. The school is a part of Aalto’s Tehtaanmäki residential area built for the employees of the Anjala Paper Mill in the 1930s. Aalto designed Anjala Paper Mill and the residential area. A new use for the school building is currently sought as school operations will end at Tehtaanmäki in 2024 with the reorganization of school network in Kouvola. The webinar is organized by South-Eastern Finland University of Applied Sciences and the city of Kouvola and funded by Kymi 100 Foundation (Kymin 100-vuotissäätiö). Associate organizer Smart Cultural Villages Project, funded by The European Agricultural Fund for Rural Development.
