In Engage young schoolchildren acquire the necessary skills and competences for active citizenship, participation and influencing in their communities

In rural areas the opportunities for young people to enjoy hobbies, get an education and get a job are weak.

By involving young people in observing their own living environment and exploring the possibilities, and by bringing them together with local companies and operators, we want to help young people become attached to their home region.

Strong emotional ties can help them find their future in their home region after getting an education.

In the international ENGAGE project, young people participate in a four-week pilot period of a new interdisciplinary study program. During the period, they implement their own development ideas based on the UN Sustainable Development Goals. The ideas are presented to local decision-makers and entrepreneurs and there is a joint discussion about them.

A handbook for teachers based on pilot studies will also be prepared.

Young people and teachers from four European countries (Iceland, Sweden, Latvia and Finland) get to know each other and compare their experiences in joint workshops.
