South Savo's Technology Industry is a strong export business, the most important product groups being machine, metal and technology industry.

The Future experts in the technology industry of the South Savo project is a joint competence development program for XAMK, Esedu, Samiedu and the technology industry in the area, aiming at raising the regional level of know-how and increasing job opportunities in the field. The project’s leading expertise areas are increasing the engineering know-how of electrical and automation technology especially in Savonlinna, developing new digital learning content,piloting for enterprise-based education models, and transferring the special skills of educational institutions to more efficiently support the corporate staff and business.
The result of the project is the increasing of the skill level of some 40 provincial companies and about 500 people working in the technology industry or moving to the sector. In addition, new training content is produced and the best practices of the on-the-job learning and business-oriented learning paths are put into service from a student to a professional and as a professional expert in various sectors of the technology industry in machinery, metal and electrical engineering industry among different professional groups.
