Students of South-Eastern Finland University of Applied Sciences are organising a TEDx event at Kouvola campus on 21 November 2019. The theme of the event is The future is today, and it is organised by a group of more than 30 International Business students, including ten Finns and more than twenty international degree and exchange students.

The TEDxXamk event, the first of its kind, emerged when the students selected topics that interested them and invited prominent, high-level experts to talk about solutions to global problems. Each speaker will deliver a talk of less than 18 minutes, in accordance with the TED rules, without remuneration.

The speakers presenting at TEDxXamk are Mari Pantsar from the Finnish Innovation Fund Sitra, Ville Virta from SATO, Antti Merilehto from AI Strategy Company and Heta Heiskanen from the Finnish Ministry of the Environment. They all have a vision on what the future of humankind should look like. The topics include work between humans and machines in the future, circular economy, climate change and start-up companies.

The event is by invitation only, but it is also streamed live and can be followed in the auditorium of Kasarmi restaurant, Paraatikenttä 5. The event is recorded, and the video will be available on YouTube 48 hours afterwards, on the name TEDxXamk.

TEDx events have brought people together to share a TED-style experience since 2009. Some of the best TEDx talks are added to ted.com, through which they receive millions of views by people all over the world.
