In line with Essote’s guidelines, the Mikkeli campus of South-Eastern Finland University of Applied Sciences will switch back to the hybrid model of teaching on Monday 12 April 2021.  The self-study facilities will also be opened for the students.

As recommended by Mikkeli City, the sports and recreational facilities, including the band rehearsal room, remain closed on Mikkeli campus for the time being. All group sports activities are cancelled.

In accordance with the recommendations by Kymsote and Sosteri, Xamk’s campuses in Kotka, Kouvola and Savonlinna will continue in the remote teaching mode (theoretical studies) until 18 April 2021.

Practical teaching, including simulation and laboratory exercises and Paja workshop training, are arranged on all campuses, using the required protection.

All teaching instructions also apply to continuous learning (open university of applied sciences and continuing education).

Additional information

* The hybrid model means that groups who started in January 2021 or autumn 2020 study on campus (with the exception of Information Technology, which is taught remotely). Theoretical instruction for continuing students is arranged remotely. Practical instruction, including simulations, laboratory work, Paja workshop exercises and similar, will be organised on campus for all students, in accordance with the respective plans. Anyone participating in these must wear a mask.

EXCEPTIONS: When the authorities decide or recommend that the students of any Xamk campus should switch to remote studying, these instructions are observed. The switch to remote studying is effective immediately following the official decision or recommendation, and similarly, when it expires, Xamk returns to the teaching mode that was in use previously.
