Bio-Based and Circular Economy Research Unit

Our research and development activities in the bioeconomy and circular economy focuses on products with a higher biocarbon refining degree, regardless of the industry, material efficiency and circular economy of construction, as well as the processing and usability of end-of-life textiles.

Promoting green transition

Research boosts green transition

We develop solutions that support the promotion of bioeconomy, circular economy and low-carbon construction. At the core of our work are high-grade bioproducts, carbon sequestration solutions and new opportunities for material reuse. Our research produces information and technologies to make more efficient use of raw materials, to extend the life cycle of materials and to reduce environmental impact.

In terms of construction, we develop and test solutions that support the transition towards low-carbon and circular materials. Accredited concrete testing, emission measurements and assessment of new material solutions provide the knowledge base for the sustainability transformation in the construction industry.

Our research combines hands-on development, business collaboration and a strong research infrastructure. The aim is to accelerate the green transition and support the transition of society and business towards a carbon-neutral future.
