We carry out high-quality and impactful research and development projects in the fields of forest bioeconomy, environmental engineering, and material technologies. We offer our partners and clients a wide range of services, including commissioned research, product development, testing, piloting, and analysis. We apply knowledge, expertise, and solutions in an innovative and practical way, focusing on our core strengths: Fiber products and processes, Environmental safety and water technology, Wood construction and wood materials, and Emerging technologies.

Each year, we collaborate with around 400 companies, and maintain strong partnerships with research organisations such as Natural Resources Institute Finland (LUKE), Aalto University, and VTT Technical Research Centre of Finland. We also engage in extensive project cooperation with several other universities and research institutes both in Finland and internationally.

Our strong research units – Materials and Environmental Safety in Mikkeli and Forest Bioeconomy and New Technologies in Savonlinna – form a vital part of regional development. Together, they include modern laboratories and a team of around 100 experts.
