WELCOME TO XAMK!
Xamk is the 5th largest University of Applied Sciences in Finland. We provide education in eight fields of study, participate in research and development work and provide services to the businesses and residents of the area.

We have campuses in four towns: Kotka, Kouvola, Mikkeli and Savonlinna.
A 10 days’ Study Visit is an excellent opportunity to get familiarized with Xamk and our education, Finland and the Finnish culture!
Visits can be arranged in the fields of
- Nursing (Mikkeli)
- Tourism, Hospitality Management and Youth Work (Mikkeli), as well as
- Sport and Rehabilitation (Savonlinna).
STUDY VISIT (10 DAYS)
WHAT?
Finland is known for its high level of education. Xamk as a University of Applied Sciences focuses on learning by doing; combining theory and practice is one of our assets to provide our students with the best possible skills for their future work careers.
The contents of each Study Visit will be tailor-made on the basis of the participating group’s interests, including theoretical studies, field visits and an introduction to the Finnish education system and culture. The study field of interest and the campus in question will be defined separately depending on the offering in each of our campus towns.

DURING THE STUDY VISIT, YOU WILL GET ACQUAINTED WITH XAMK AND OUR PEDAGOGICAL METHODS AND SOLUTIONS.
You will
- learn about the Finnish Education system and education in Xamk
- participate in lectures and workshops which combine theory and practice in the field of your own interest
- get familiarized with Xamk’s teaching methods
- visit and explore the modern facilities at least on two of Xamk’s four campuses
- visit companies related to the study field in question
- meet students and staff of the study field in question.
You will also get a chance to explore the beautiful Finnish nature, have a true Finnish sauna and swimming in a lake experience, and enjoy some cultural activities in the Xamk’s campus town in question and the capital city Helsinki.
Travelling, accommodation and part of the cultural programme during the visit will be arranged in cooperation with a travel agency.

Price from 1 700 € / person (20 participants)
Please note that the exact price depends on the time of the visit and the number of participants.
The price of the tailor-made programme includes
- invitation letters for visa application process
- bus transportation from Helsinki airport to Xamk’s campus town in question and back to Helsinki airport
- other transportation marked in the programme during the visit
- accommodation in shared rooms
- breakfast and lunch (for students we provide breakfast and a lunch discount)
- educational programme, including theoretical studies and field visits
- introduction to Finland, the Finnish education system, Xamk and Xamk’s education

Study Visit experiences from Henan University, China
The first Study Visit in the field of nursing was arranged for a group of students and teachers from Xamk’s partner institution Henan University, China, in Mikkeli in August 2019. A total of 22 students and three teachers took part in the 10- day programme, which included theoretical lectures, various workshops, field visits and a visit to our Kotka campus. In addition, there were several cultural activities included in the programme. During the last few days, the participants enjoyed cultural activities and beautiful attractions of our capital city Helsinki and its surroundings.
We asked one participating student and teacher to tell us the most interesting things during the visit. The thing singled out was the ambulance simulator on our Kotka campus, which the participants described as unforeseen. In addition, Saimaa Stadiumi and Active Life Lab were extremely interesting, and Learning Café as a teaching method was also something new to them.
