Accessibility at Xamk
The framework for the Accessibility Plan is based on the national accessibility criteria developed by the OHO project. The plan documents the current state of accessibility, the criteria used for assessment, as well as the objectives and proposed actions.
At Xamk, accessibility refers to how
- facilities
- digital systems
- learning environments
- teaching methods and materials, and
- overall atmosphere
enable participation and equality for people with diverse personal characteristics and those living in various life situations
The accessibility criteria and the resulting Xamk Accessibility Plan provide a solid foundation for accessibility work. They help identify areas for development as well as successes. The goal is for accessibility in all areas covered by the criteria to reach at least a good level as defined by the framework.
Accessibility development at South-Eastern Finland University of Applied Sciences is coordinated by the Accessibility Working Group. The group is chaired by the Head of Stakeholder Services, Pekka Pulkkinen. Other members represent a wide range of Xamk’s units.

The website meets the critical accessibility requirements but is not yet fully compliant.
Non-accessible Content
- Some images are missing alternative text (alt text) or the descriptions are insufficient.

We are continuously working to improve accessibility and are committed to developing the accessibility of our digital services. Accessibility issues on the site are being addressed as part of ongoing maintenance, and accessibility training is available for site administrators. The next review of accessibility shortcomings will take place at the beginning of 2027.
