Halutessasi voit lisätä tähän alaotsikon.

The project seeks to optimize the efficient utilization of geoenergy through automation solutions

Intelligent control for energy wells

The project aims to develop an advanced automation system that improves the efficiency and controllability of mid-depth geoenergy wells. The solution will integrate real-time measurement of data, compuational modeling, and intelligent control into a unified system to support sustainable energy production.

The automation system enables real-time situational awarness, optimizes the operational performance of the wells and supports informed decision-making in diverse usage environments.

Strong collaboration between industry and education sector is central to the project. Companies provide concrete needs while educational institutions participate in the systems development, simultaneously educating future professionals for the energy sector.

The project supports the green transition and promotes digitalization in the field of renewable energy. It contributes to the regional innovation capacity and strengthens cooperation between research, education and industry.

The project combines automation, companies and educational institutions- resulting in a smarter and more skilled Geoenergy solution.

Project objectives

Finland’s climate targets and the green transition require the effective deployment of the renewable energy solutions. Geoenergy represents a promising and local energy source, but the management of mid-depth energy wells calls for new types of technologies.

This project aims to develop an open-source automation system that integrates real-time measurement data, modeling and optimization. The objective is to enable and optimize the intelligent use of energy wells under varying conditions.

Project background

The potential of mid-depth energy wells as a clean source of heating and cooling energy has been recognized, but their large-scale and efficient utilization requires new types of technologies. The project addresses that need by developing and open source, remotely controlled automation system for monitoring and optimizing energy wells.

The project is a part of a broader RDI- system that integrates research, technological development, innovation and training. The Geoenregy Leap project implemented by South- Eastern Finland University of Applied sciences (Xamk) laid the functional and technical foundation for mid-dept geoenergy well. Through automation, the system is now being developed into a versatile solution that supports RDI activities, educational needs and business applications.
