GROW

Generating Real Entrepreneurship Opportunities for Youth NEET

GROW improves the position of 16–25-year-olds who are outside working life and education in Finland and Estonia. The project offers participants entrepreneurship and work-life skills and supports them in recognizing their own strengths and competencies.

This is what we do!

The aim of the project is to create better employment opportunities for 16–25-year-olds who are outside the labour market and education in Finland and Estonia.

Goals

Give young people entrepreneurship and work-life skills that support their transition into the workforce and provide skills to recognize their own abilities and strengths.

Project activities

  • Build a local and cross-border cooperation network to reach the target group
  • Cooperation enables the sharing of best practices between the two countries and organizations
  • Develop together with project partners and stakeholders an online learning environment Entrepreneurial Program and Path to improve young people’s employment opportunities
  • Provide young people with personal support during the program
  • Enable young people to network with each other and with working life nationally and across borders

Expected outcomes

During the project, 60 young people will participate in the activities of the project, complete competency modules, develop their entrepreneurship skills, and/or establish a JA company. The activities are based on creative and tested teaching methods, such as live and remote implementations, school and company visits, and examples of youth entrepreneurship, as well as strong personal and peer-based support, also across borders.

Working for a real need

The background of the project is the worrying situation of young people in both countries. In Estonia, especially the dropout rate among 17-year-olds is high, and in South Savo, the proportion of unemployed young people without training exceeds the national level.

GROW responds to this challenge by strengthening skills, supporting employment, encouraging entrepreneurship, and preventing exclusion from the labour market.
