Helper
Sustainable employment paths for immigrants
The Helper project ended on July 31, 2026.
Our goal was to support the region’s ability to attract and retain residents by promoting a positive attitude and progress regarding the employment and recruitment of immigrants.
We strengthened the inclusion of immigrants by simultaneously supporting their employment, their pursuit of education, and their Finnish language skills.
The aim of the project is to improve immigrants inclusion, access to training and employment, and job search skills.
The project measures include
Creating a job-seeking volunteering model and developing leisure opportunities
Finnish job search and its digital opportunities and promotion of knowledge of working life
Strengthening the use of plain language
Building business partnerships to support labour supply
Developing international recruitment
Personalised guidance for job and education search
Workshops, training, group guidance
Materials produced by the project
The International Mikkeli videos
The international Mikkeli videos are made in summer 2024 together with volunteers. The idea for the videos came from a young participant. She came up with the idea of participants telling in their mother tongue why Mikkeli is a good place to live, study and work. Watch the warm, inspiring and authentic videos, narrated by the people themselves.
