From Screens to Scenes – INACS team on the road in Latvia and Estonia
The INACS project aims to develop a joint digital platform that opens a gateway to the natural and cultural heritage of Finland, Estonia, and Latvia. It encourages physical activity, an active lifestyle, and the creation of lasting memories especially among young people.
Autumn colours and living history
Our journey began in Latvia, where we visited the scenic towns of Sigulda, Līgatne and Cēsis. The Gauja River valley was covered in mist and morning sunlight, creating a spectacular view that looked like a painting. We explored old manors, castles, and stories of Latvia’s changing rulers through the centuries.
The medieval Cēsis Castle left a particular impression. A place where history and the surrounding city in present day blend seamlessly. Even this late in autumn, Latvia and Estonia surprised us with their beauty and atmosphere.
In Estonia, our route followed the shores of Lake Peipsi, the fourth largest lake in Europe. The horizon disappears into calm waters, and the small villages along the coast line created a unique and atmospheric environment.
Working together for shared goals
Alongside exploring local nature and heritage, the team held several workshops focusing on platform design, content ideas, and planning upcoming project tasks and activities.
Developing solutions and tools to address a shared challenge—such as promoting a more active lifestyle among citizens, especially youth—requires both technical discussions and broader vision.
Throughout this process, one guiding question remains: How can we truly engage young audiences?
These sessions deepened our understanding of shared needs and helped structure the path forward for the project.
New energy and clear direction
The trip offered practical insights into mapping tools, youth engagement strategies, and content creation. Most importantly, it strengthened our collaboration and aligned our vision for the months ahead.
A warm thank you to all co-implementers and team members for your inspiring contributions, hospitality, and collaboration during this trip. The teams ideas and enthusiasm are shaping the future of the INACS platform and helping us inspire young people to move from screens to scenes.
The next phase is about testing, learning, and creating something truly meaningful for young people across borders.
