Online Degree Programmes Popular in the Autumn Joint Application Round

These figures are preliminary, as the number of applicants to English-language programmes will be confirmed in the coming days.

The overall attractiveness rate — the number of first-choice applications per available study place — was 3.1. Last year, the corresponding figure was 3.6.

Of the first-choice applicants, 78% came from outside the Xamk region. The largest shares of first-choice applicants came from:

  • Uusimaa: 23%
  • Kymenlaakso: 13%
  • Abroad: 12%
  • South Savo: 9%
  • Pirkanmaa: 7%

Business Degree Programmes Attract Applicants

Among the Finnish-language bachelor’s degree programmes, the most attractive were the online business administration programmes in business and information technology. The third most popular was the online social services programme.

Among the Finnish-language master’s degree programmes, the most popular was the Master of Business Administration in HR, Communication and Leadership. Also popular were the programmes in Crisis-Tolerant Healthcare and Social Welfare and Management of Digital Marketing.

English-Language Programmes Offered in Two Application Rounds

Most of the English-language programmes offered in the autumn round were already available in the summer Rolling Admission round. This flexible application process allows applicants to receive an admission decision within a week, which is especially helpful for international applicants.

Based on the combined number of applicants from both the autumn and Rolling Admission rounds, the most popular English-language programme was Digital International Business in Kouvola. Other highly attractive programmes included Disaster Management (Master level) and Game Technologies (Bachelor level), both offered in Kotka.

“Four entirely new English-language programmes were introduced in this round, and they received a good number of applications. The Disaster Management programme in Kotka was particularly attractive. The Game Art programme in Kouvola also drew interest,” says Katri Ryttyläinen-Korhonen, Vice President for Education at Xamk.

Selection Schedule

In the autumn round, Xamk offered a total of 1,029 study places. The timing of admission results depends on the selection method. All results will be announced by 20 November, and studies will begin in January 2026.
