Developing Career Paths in Logistics

We help logistics professionals and people entering the sector develop their skills, find employment and advance their careers.

Together with logistics companies, we develop short, practical training modules covering topics such as transport scheduling, the use of digital systems and data utilisation. We identify participants’ existing skills and help them build the additional competencies needed in the workplace. A certificate awarded upon completion makes their skills visible to employers.

New skills and smoother career paths in logistics

The project is implemented in Kymenlaakso, Uusimaa and Päijät-Häme, bringing together talent, education and the world of work.

Results and impact

Up-to-date skills enable logistics professionals to use new technologies, improve their work practices and move into new roles.

For young people, recent graduates, jobseekers and career changers, the aim is to strengthen workplace skills and ease the transition into logistics roles.

Recognising existing skills and making them visible also helps people with a migrant background put their expertise to use.

Work in logistics is changing

The impact will continue beyond the end of the project. The training content, materials and operating model developed will remain available for continuous learning and collaboration with employers. This creates a foundation for ongoing skills development and more flexible career paths in the future.

Development guided by workplace needs

We work with logistics companies, educational institutions, employment services and industry networks. Together, we:

– Identify skills needs in the logistics sector
– Develop ways to recognise and strengthen employees’ skills
– Deliver short training modules that can be combined to meet different skills needs and career goals
– Connect learning with practical work tasks based on companies’ needs, using in-person, online and hybrid teaching
– Strengthen cooperation between companies, training providers and other labour market stakeholders
– Support connections with employers and the development of career paths

Skills for everyday logistics operations

The content of the training modules will be refined through joint development. Potential topics include:

  • transport scheduling and operational logistics planning
  • digital systems and the use of data and artificial intelligence
  • smart logistics chains and the application of new technologies
  • safety, workplace skills and entrepreneurial skills
  • responsible, low-emission transport.

Making skills visible in the workplace

Alongside skills development, the project develops ways to demonstrate what people know and can do, and how their skills can be applied in the workplace.

A certificate issued by the training provider upon completion of a training module helps participants demonstrate their skills. Skills can also be made visible through digital badges and other suitable methods.

Cooperation with companies helps align training content with practical needs. The project also develops ways to strengthen employees’ skills and identify skilled people.

Demonstrating skills supports career progression
