Logistics and Shipping
RDI activities cover much more than just transport solutions.
We are working with national and international partners to develop more sustainable and safer supply chains.
Our projects cover all modes of transport and operate at both national and international levels.
A strong developer in logistics.
Logistics and Seafaring RDI unit
We have a strong expertise in port, rail, and air logistics. Our RDI activities focus on the development of transport systems and supply chains, among other things. Our goal is to reduce the environmental impacts of logistics while maintaining a sustainable level of cost-effectiveness.
The maritime RDI team engages in long-term cooperation in oil spill response training for authorities and in developing oil spill response preparedness.
The Logistics and Seafaring research unit focuses on five different research areas:
- Railway Logistics
- Green Transition in Logistics
- Smart Air Traffic
- Oil and Chemical Spill Response
- Maritime Safety and Incident Management

Oil and Chemical Spill Response
Oil and Chemical Spill Response
We are a pioneer in oil spill response know-how. We develop preparedness for spills of hazardous substances and offer oil spill response research, testing and training services.
In our research and development work, we utilize simulation models and our oil spill response test basin.

Railway Logistics
Railway Logistics
We participate in the further development of logistics hubs and the dry port concept, and in promoting combined transport in cooperation with other operators in the field.

Green Transition in Logistics
Green Transition in Logistics
The aim of the activity is to research and develop solutions to reduce the environmental impact of different modes of transport.

Smart Air Traffic
Smart Air Traffic
We develop technology and operational processes to promote unmanned aviation, electronic air traffic, and modern airport concepts.

Maritime Safety and Incident Management
Maritime Safety and Incident Management
We develop maritime safety in cooperation with shipping companies, ports, authorities and other safety experts.
