Why choose IT-studies at Xamk? Practical skills, flexibility, and career growth

– Before moving to Mikkeli, I worked as a chef in India for about six years. This experience made it easier for me to find part-time work here. I usually work on weekends and evenings, which allows me plenty of time to focus on my studies, complete assignments, participate in group projects, and pursue other interests. One of my favorite activities is walking in nature, and I spent a lot of time enjoying the outdoors especially during the summer.

– I studied Finnish language courses online, and I was able to pass the YKI test intermediate level within 15 months of moving to Finland.

Learning by doing makes all the difference

– For me, studying at the University of Applied Sciences is the best choice, Sagar says. I don’t just want to read theory, I want to see how it works in real life.

– I study Information Technology (IT) full-time on campus, although some optional courses are available online. For me, being on campus creates a focused atmosphere that motivates me to learn, while online studies don’t provide the same feeling.

– We do a lot of practical lab work, which is exciting because you can experiment, make mistakes, and try again. Depending on the subject, we also use virtual environments to enhance learning.

The Information Technology degree programme also offers a wide range of elective courses, so students can tailor their studies to their interests

Sagar’s journey hasn’t been just about lectures and labs. He represented international students at SAMOK’s general assembly and actively connects with people locally and nationally.

– It has helped me improve my communication skills and confidence, he says.
