I work at Juvenia,

as an RDI expert on a project called Helper – sustainable employment paths for immigrants

My work focuses specifically on:

• the employment and education of immigrants
• guidance on different job search methods, such as video job applications
• the use of easy finnish language
• multiculturalism and internationalization

I am PhD in Social Sciences and I work as a senior researcher at Juvenia Centre of Youth Research and Development.

In addition to youth studies, my fields of expertise are social research on disability, cultural studies, working-life research and sociological studies on professionalism and expertise.

At Juvenia, I have studied e.g. the opportunities for participation of young persons with disabilities in youth sport activities and sport cultures, services of support for young people, digital youth work, and safety and resilience of young people amidst global crises. Additionally, I have participated in international development projects concerning e.g. digital safety of young people, and promoting skills of young people for social entrepreneurship.

Työskentelen erikoistutkijana Nuorisoalan tutkimus- ja kehittämisyksikkö Juveniassa. Koulutukseltani olen yhteiskuntatieteiden tohtori (Tampereen yliopisto v. 2003), ja nuorisotutkimus, yhteiskuntatieteellinen vammaistutkimus, työelämän ammatillisuuteen ja sosiaalisiin suhteisiin liittyvä tutkimus sekä kulttuurintutkimuksen menetelmät ovat vahvimpia alueitani.

Nuorisotutkimuksessa minua kiinnostavat eniten yhdenvertaisuuden ja sosiaalisen eriarvoisuuden teemat, vähemmistöihin luokiteltujen nuorten asema ja nuorisokulttuurit.

I work as a Senior Researcher at the Youth Research and Development Centre Juvenia. I have a doctorate in social sciences (University of Tampere in 2003), and my strongest areas are youth studies, disability studies, research related to professionalism and social relations in working life, and the methods of cultural studies.

In youth research, I am most interested in the themes of social inequality, the status of young people classified as minorities, and youth cultures.

I work in Juvenia as a Senior Researcher (Researcher’s career path). My background is in cultural anthropology and my research interests include topics such as human technology relationships, spatial relationships, human-environmental interactions and the emotions associated with all of these three. I am one of the Editors-in-Chief of Human Technology journal. I am also a member of Xamk’s ethical committee and publication team. My ORCID is https://orcid.org/0000-0002-8528-0237
