The Master’s Degree Programme in Electrical Engineering Product Development prepares practicing engineers to lead product development in industrial power systems — high voltage equipment, electricity transmission, and distribution.
We designed this programme with Norelco, a Finnish high-voltage electrical products company, for them to find the talent. This programme connects you directly with the industry you are training for.

Industry Partnership — Norelco
This programme was developed in collaboration with Norelco, a Finnish company specialising in high-voltage electrical products. Industry collaboration is built into the curriculum — from real project briefs to laboratory access. Top-performing graduates may be considered for employment.
Build a career in industrial electrical engineering
After completing the programme, you will master the product development process of electrical engineering components used in electricity transmission and distribution. You will be able to apply recognised research and development methods and identify future-oriented trends shaping the field.
After graduation, you can pursue a wide range of career opportunities in the electrical industry, such as product development, sales, or network operations.
Electrical engineers in Finland earn an average of €50,980 per year, with senior roles exceeding €78,000 (worldsalaries.com, 2025). Non-EU graduates are eligible to apply for up to two-year job-seeker residence permit after completing their degree, giving you time to secure employment in Finland or elsewhere in Europe.

At the beginning of your studies, you begin your personal study planning (PSP), which helps you make choices related to your studies, practical training, master’s thesis, and international activities. Your Studies Coordinator will support you in preparing your personal study plan. Studying at Master School allows you to build the career path of your choice in line with your own objectives.

Inside Norelco: Where Finland’s Energy Infrastructure Gets Built

Have you ever wondered where the companies actually hiring electrical engineers are in Finland ? Well, Norelco would be a good place to start your search.
Based in Savonlinna, Finland, Norelco has been building switchgears, substations, and transformer stations for over 60 years. Their equipment powers data centres, hospitals, renewable energy projects, and everyday infrastructure across the Nordic region and beyond.
Norelco isn’t just any other company. They are active players in the energy sector with deep expertise, and they operate with an unwavering family-owned company mindset that has seen them build trust in the industry for over six decades.
When you walk into Norelco today, you’ll be surprised to hear more than one language. The company employs around 350 people from 14 different nationalities, and they work in both Finnish and English.

Norelco isn’t standing still either. They have an active growth programme, with plans to grow in revenue by some twenty million euros in the upcoming years. Savonlinna is a small city in eastern Finland that is surrounded by lakes. It is a quiet, quaint, and genuinely breathtaking city that takes its international residents seriously. The programme that connects you to all of this
Xamk’s new Master of Engineering in Electrical Engineering Product Development was built with Norelco’s direct involvement. It’s part of a formal cooperation framework between Norelco, Xamk and the City of Savonlinna.
The programme covers high-voltage product development, laboratory testing, industrial communications, and data analytics and AI. It’s a 60 credit full-time programme that is based at the Xamk Savonlinna campus.
The curriculum was developed in close dialogue and cooperation with the industry. This means that what you study in the classroom reflects what’s actually happening on the factory floor.
