Xamk – South-Eastern Finland University of Applied Sciences
Xamk is a modern and innovative University of Applied Sciences with campuses in Mikkeli, Kouvola, Savonlinna, and Kotka. Xamk offers a range of degree programs and professional development opportunities, with a strong focus on practical learning, career advancement, and flexible study options, including online studies.

There are several types of bachelor’s degrees to choose from. Xamk offers 12 bachelor’s that are taught in English and are open to international students.
Four of these are offered in Mikkeli, and two are available entirely online.
Master’s degree programs are designed for professionals looking to deepen their expertise. You can apply if you have a suitable higher education degree (such as a bachelor’s from a university of applied sciences or university) and at least two years of relevant work experience after graduation.
These flexible programs can be completed alongside work and are offered at Xamk’s Kotka and Kouvola campuses in fields such as business, technology, disaster management, and digital industry and AI.
Xamk’s Open University of Applied Sciences allows you to study single courses without committing to a full degree. This is ideal for professionals looking to upskill or for family members exploring new interests. Xamk Pulse studies are open to everyone who has a Finnish personal identity code.

Mikkeli is Xamk’s largest campus, home to approximately 4,600 students. It offers a wide range of Bachelor’s degree programs, including four taught in English.
The campus features comprehensive student services, including academic support, well-being services, an international office, and a student union. Students also have access to a library, gym, sports hall, outdoor sports field, as well as restaurants and cafés

The studies will focus on Essentials of Video Game Creation (3 ECTS) and will teach you how to create a video game by studying concept design and development. You will learn in practice how to develop a basic game concept, from an idea to a pitch.

Finland has two types of higher education institutions: universities and universities of applied sciences (UAS).
Universities focus on scientific research and education based on it. Universities of applied sciences, on the other hand, offer a pragmatic education that responds to working life needs.
Studies at a university of applied sciences (UAS) focus on professional and practical know-how and skills. The practical experience provided by UAS studies is highly appreciated in many jobs and duties. UAS Bachelor’s level studies also gives you the opportunity to apply for further studies, such as completing a UAS master’s level degree and continuing as far as a doctoral degree. Our bachelor’s degrees always include supervised practical training that gives you the opportunity to apply the knowledge learnt in theory into practice. You will become familiar with the duties of your own field in real working environments.
We have over 12 000 students, and we offer 12 Bachelor’s degree programmes in English, 6 Master’s degree programmes in English, open UAS courses and a variety of non-degree study options, from microcourses to post graduate diplomas.
Depending on whether you are interested in studying at the Bachelor’s or Master’s level or if you want to come to Xamk as an exchange student, different rules apply for admissions. Studies at Xamk Open University of Applied Sciences are intended for all regardless of age or educational background.
