The aim of the project is to create a KOSKES concept for circular economy center of excellence in the Hyötyvirta business area in Kymenlaakso region, Finland. The project is coordinated by regional development company Kouvola Innovation. KOSKES brings together companies, business development organizations and educational institutions to develop a common vision for future.

The KOSKES project will create a platform to support and develop the competitiveness of businesses related to circular economy. KOSKES activities are planned, implementation is agreed upon and KOSKES is ready for launch at the end of this development project. This objective will be achieved through the following steps which also ensure the continuity of the circular economy center of excellence:
a. Creation of enterprise development platform and ecosystem
b. New training activities in co-operation with businesses and the world of work (learning environment)
c. Functioning as part of international circular economy network
d. Innovative construction process planned and ready to be implemented

The project will increase business opportunities, the re-use of materials, reduce the need for virgin raw materials for industries, and promote low carbon and resource efficiency in long term. The project is in line with Kymenlaakso’s Research and Innovation Strategy for Smart Specialisation (RIS3) and supports its implementation.
