Working and participating together in LAKU -family rehabilitation supports the daily life of the child and the family.

The purpose of Kela’s LAKU -Family Rehabilitation -Evaluation Research Project (LAKU 2021-2022) is to describe the current state and development needs of Kela’s LAKU family rehabilitation. The aim is to research the perceptions and experiences of various actors, rehabilitation service providers and entities sending to rehabilitation as well as day care/ school operators, perceptions and experiences of Laku family rehabilitation and its implementation in cooperation with the family.

The research is executed in a multimethodological manner by collecting information from different actors and using different methods. Information is collected from service providers carrying out rehabilitation, entities sending to rehabilitation and representatives of day care or school.

The research examines the following themes:

  1. The process of diversion to LAKU -Family Rehabilitation, the timeliness and the identification of families’ needs.
  2. The experiences of various actors of LAKU -Family Rehabilitation’s customer and family orientation and the integration of everyday life.
  3. The experiences of various actors of how LAKU -Family Rehabilitation’s current methods of implementations support a successful rehabilitation process.
  4. How the cooperation of the various actors has been accomplished in the different stages of LAKU -Family Rehabilitation.

As a result of the research, there will be information of family rehabilitation for children with neuropsychiatric symptoms and their families, especially in the perspectives of implementation, rehabilitation cooperation, co-agency, and the integration of rehabilitation to everyday life. The research also provides information on the factors that promote and inhibit, and good practice in relation to the themes mentioned above.

The information can be utilized by different actors such as Kela as the entity organizing rehabilitation, service providers as rehabilitation implementing entity, and various social and health care operators as rehabilitation planning entity.

LAKU -project is a part of KELA’s Muutos III -project. Muutos III -project researches the changes and reforms that have occurred in Kela’s rehabilitation. The project is implemented between 2021 and 2024. This link takes you to the project’s website (in Finnish).
