With funding from Fire Protection Fund, Xamk carried out the research on the effectivity of Post-Critical Incident Seminar for rescue workers.

Due to MentalFireFit project and the interest of media, traumatizing events that rescue workers face in their work have been increasingly receiving public attention.

Post Critical Incident Seminar is a three-day group model that is targeted for employees suffering consequences from one or more trauma incidents.

Funded by Fire Protection Fund in Finland, Xamk carried out the research to assess the effectivity of the Critical Incident Seminar arranged for rescue workers in spring 2021 in Finland. By now, there has been only a small number of studies published related to Post Critical Incident Seminar.

The goal of this research was to publish also internationally needed high-quality research about the effectivity of the Post Critical Incident Seminar as well as to increase awareness among rescue professionals, decision makers and staff health personnel in Finland. The research results will be used to facilitate the future continuation of the Post Critical Incident Seminars for rescue workers in Finland.
