The aim is to develop measurement and analysis techniques for engineered wood products in collaboration between Xamk and industry partners.

The use of wood in construction, transportation, and aviation is increasing, with most wood products being bonded. However, the development of new bio-based adhesives and solutions is slow due to limited experience in their interaction with wood. The properties of wood raw material and its processing affect product quality. Developing new composite products requires a broader understanding of raw material properties and new modeling and measurement technologies.

AIM

The aim of the project is to develop measurement and analysis techniques for engineered wood products (LVL, plywood, glued wood composite structures, etc.) in collaboration between Xamk and industry partners.

The developed and applied measurement technologies enable a significantly deeper understanding and control of wood material properties, strength characteristics of wood products, and the interaction between wood and bio-based adhesives.

New measurement and modeling technologies of veneer products and processes project is co-funded by the European Union, granted by the South Savo Regional Council. The total budget is € 462 682, from which the amount of EU funding is € 347 012.
