Spring 2026 Arrival Survey Results: A Smooth Start to Studies and a Strong Sense of Community at Xamk

Cooperation with fellow students and staff, a smooth start to studies, and the effective use of Learn emerged as key strengths in Xamk’s spring 2026 arrival survey. Students regard Xamk as a high-quality and versatile place to study, and they also value the possibilities for internationalisation.

A total of 854 students who started their studies in January responded to the spring 2026 arrival survey. The response rate increased compared with the previous year, and the results provide a very positive overall picture of the start of studies, guidance, and communication at Xamk.

According to the results, students feel that cooperation within their study groups and with staff works very well. Among Bachelor’s degree students, 89% rated cooperation within their study group and 86% cooperation with staff as good or very good.

The corresponding figures were 87% and 93% among Master’s degree students, and 84% and 87% among open study path students. Teachers received particular praise for their accessibility, expertise, and the support they provide. Students also saw a strong sense of community and peer support within their study groups as important for commitment to their studies.

Learn remained the most important communication and learning platform for students. At the same time, students would like communication to be clearer and information to be available through fewer channels, especially at the beginning of their studies.

Students also rated the study opportunities offered by Xamk and the possibilities for internationalisation positively. They described Xamk as versatile, high-quality, inspiring, and innovative. Open study path students gave particularly positive feedback, and their willingness to recommend Xamk was the highest among all student groups. They also regarded the studies as a flexible route to higher education.

Students’ willingness to recommend their degree programme to a friend or acquaintance, measured using the Net Promoter Score (NPS), was at a good level. The NPS was 31 among Bachelor’s degree students, 20 among Master’s degree students, and 47 among open study path students. An NPS above 50 can be considered high.

Although the overall results are very positive, students also identified areas for further development. They would particularly like better support for managing the workload at the beginning of their studies, clearer communication, and more consistent practices for personal study plans and recognition of competence (RC).

The results will be used to further develop education, student services, and practices that support student wellbeing and progress in studies.
