Xamk administration

Board of South-Eastern University of Applied Sciences LTD is the owner and operator of South-Eastern Finland University of Applied Sciences (Xamk). Xamk Oy is owned by the cities of Kotka, Kouvola, Mikkeli and Savonlinna. The highest decision-making authority in Xamk Oy is the General Meeting, as defined in the Limited Liability Companies Act, and it appoints the company’s Board.

Xamk’s Board of Directors consists of a total of eight members. Two of the members have been appointed by the city of Mikkeli, two by the city of Kotka, one by the city of Kouvola, and one by the city of Savonlinna. The term of office of the Board members is four years. The Board also includes two members from the university of applied sciences community, one of whom is a staff member and the other a student. The procedure for electing the staff representative is specified in the rules of procedure, and the procedure for electing the student representative is specified in the regulations of the Student Union.

Term of the current Board

The current Board’s term began on 16 October 2025 and lasts four years, i.e. for the next municipal council term. The members elected by staff and students from among themselves serve a two‑year term, until the end of 2026. The Board meets monthly, except during the summer break.
