In a historic move, Munster Technological University (MTU) and South Eastern Finland University of Applied Sciences (Xamk) have officially signed a Joint Research Agreement, marking a significant milestone in their collaboration under the INGENIUM European University Alliance. The signing ceremony, held at the MTU Bishopstown Campus in Cork, Ireland brought Professor Maggie Cusack, President of MTU, and Professor Heikki Saastamoinen, President and CEO of Xamk together for this significant event.

This groundbreaking agreement sets the stage for increased collaborative research between the two institutions facilitating the joint supervision of PhD candidates within the Xamk academic community. The agreement will enhance academic excellence, drive innovation, and promote sustainable solutions across borders.

Professor Maggie Cusack highlighted the importance of the agreement, stating, “This Joint Research Agreement with Xamk not only symbolizes our commitment to academic excellence and innovation but also aligns perfectly with the INGENIUM European University Alliance’s mission.
