– a coordination and communication project for citizen-led development

The project supports organizations in the South Savo region in applying for and implementing impactful citizen-initiated ESF+ development projects.

Jelppis- a coordination and communication project for citizen-led development supports associations and small municipalities in the South Savo region to apply for and implement effective citizen-driven ESF+ development projects together with partners. The project will also strengthen regional project coordination and cooperation between different actors. Through the project’s activities, associations in the South Savo region will gain additional knowledge and expertise in ESF+ project development. The project and participation skills of the organisations will be strengthened and they will be encouraged to apply for ESF+ projects. Associations in the South Savo region will be stronger development actors and regional civic participation will be strengthened. The project covers the whole of South Savo.

Objectives:

1. To support and develop civic participation and its potential for action in the Structural Funds.

3. To promote the project and participation skills of organisations.

4. Support coordination and cooperation between projects in the field of citizen-centred development

.5. To support the communication and evaluation of the effectiveness of project activities.

6. To make visible the results and impacts of citizen-driven projects in South Savo for the programming period 2021-2027.

The initiated citizen-initiated ESF+ projects in South Savo.

“Zetanes” means “together” in Romani. In the Zetanes-together project, young people in Mikkeli are supported, among other things, in their studies, and meaningful leisure activities are provided, such as at Rukella. Additionally, the project involves going out into the city to meet young people.

Mikkeli Racing Club and Mikkeli Skiers are implementing a group project aimed at developing lifestyle guidance provided by sports clubs, especially for vulnerable families, young people, and residents of the more remote areas of Mikkeli. The goal is to enhance the holistic well-being of participants. The project offers group activities as well as individual guidance.

The aim of the project is to increase physical activity and enhance holistic well-being among the unemployed and those outside the workforce. The project also focuses on strengthening the expertise of professionals working with unemployed and those outside the workforce to support the well-being and healthy lifestyles of their clients.

The project supports immigrants in Mikkeli in integrating into society, enhances their well-being, and fosters interaction and mutual understanding between different cultures and population groups through the use of cultural interpreters trained in the project. Additionally, the project strengthens the equality expertise of local club organizers and develops new methods to lower the barriers to participation in recreational activities in the area.

The project implements various small group activities and utilizes creative methods to strengthen the family well-being of families in more vulnerable positions in the region. Additionally, the project develops suitable training for instructors working with children, youth, and groups in the culture and creative sectors, and trains participants to become instructors. Those who complete the instructor training will have the opportunity to apply their skills and knowledge in Vekkula’s events and workshops.

The project aims to strengthen participants’ job-seeking skills, well-being, ability to articulate their skills, and professional self-confidence while providing support. The goal is to expedite the process of entering and staying in the open labor market during supported employment activities while also enhancing collaboration with local businesses.

The project promotes bilateral integration by highlighting people’s personal experiences and facilitating access to peer support.

During the project, various peer support groups will be established, and existing groups and activities at the Multicultural Center Mimosa ry will be developed in such a way that experience-based experts and their skills can be utilized in the best possible manner.

The goal of the project is to promote the participation of residents in Mikkeli and their opportunities to influence the development of the city and its surrounding areas. Through its activities, the project aims to support their involvement in decision-making and service planning. Savolaiset Selviytyjät ry´s project develops new individual and group-based methods of action that support peer support, everyday skills and thus strengthen the prerequisites for employment in the Savolaiset Selviytyjät´s meeting place to support people belonging to the project’s target group. In addition, the project will develop individual everyday support through rehabilitative work methods and strengthen the cooperation of the Savolaiset Selviytyjät with other experts in the field.

The project’s goal is to improve the mental health competence of adults working with young people, enhance early identification of mental health issues, and strengthen the psychological resilience of young people in vulnerable situations. The project employs two crisis workers from MIELI Crisis Center South Savo based in Mikkeli and Savonlinna, covering the entire South Savo region. It provides individual crisis support for young people and young adults aged 15–29, ranging from preventive interventions to acute crisis work. The project also offers peer support in small groups tailored to the needs of young people, such as those experiencing bereavement or loneliness.

Nature Hacker project, implemented by Hacklab Mikkeli, enhances the well-being, inclusion, and resilience of young adults through nature-based and technology-oriented activities. The project provides diverse, easily accessible individual and group activities, including outdoor excursions, canoeing trips, seasonal foraging (berries and mushrooms), and multi-day hikes.

The project promotes communality and equality, as well as well-being and health of food aid customers. The target group of the project is food aid customers in Mikkeli, Kuopio and Rautalampi. The target group includes unemployed, families with children, young people and immigrants. The project focuses on young people and people of working age. In addition, the project provides information and support for food aid operators.

The project aims to strengthen the well-being and inclusion of residents in the Pieksämäki region, with a particular focus on vulnerable working-age individuals and youth. It will develop new opportunities for influence and participation that support the vitality and community spirit of the area.

The goal of the project is to develop a new hobby in volunteer activities for events in the Mikkeli area and to create pathways to employment in the culture sector or other fields. Participants in the project will have the opportunity to creatively and boldly plan and implement events while learning new skills, meeting inspiring people, and finding their place in the community.

In the project, new ways of hobbies are tested and brainstormed together with young people and the community manager hired for the project, in the meeting place implemented in Kisala. Additionally, the project develops the principles of creating a safer space for MäVille.
