Scholarships

The Early Bird scholarship is a 50% discount on the tuition fee of the first study year at Xamk.

You can get the Early Bird scholarship if you:

  • accept the offer of admission within one week (7 days) from the admission and
  • pay the tuition fee with discount (4 850 euro / 5 750 euro) within three weeks (21 days) from the admission.

In order to qualify for the scholarship, you must follow the deadlines given in the admission letter.

If you do not follow the given deadlines, you will lose the scholarship. You can still enrol for the studies by paying the full tuition fee (9 700 euro / 11 500 euro) by 15 July 2022.

The Early Bird scholarship is available during limited time period in spring application round.

The Early Bird scholarship does not concern degree programmes beginning in January or double degree programmes.

Scholarship based on study progress

During the studies, you can apply for a scholarship after each study year. You qualify for the scholarship by progressing in the studies well.

You are offered at least 60 ECTS credits of studies per academic year (1 August – 31 July). If you complete 55 ECTS credits during the academic year 2022-2023 (1 August 2022 - 31 July 2023), you can apply for a scholarship based on completed studies. The application must be submitted by 31 July 2023.

The scholarship during the studies is worth 50% of the paid tuition fee.

Scholarship based on Finnish language and culture studies (Bachelor’s programmes only)

If you qualify for the scholarship based on study progress, you can also apply for an additional scholarship on the basis of studies you have completed in Finnish language and culture during the academic year. The scholarship on Finnish language and culture studies does not concern Master’s programmes.

Please see details on Xamk website on tuition fees.

Tuition fee for the second study year

The tuition fee for the second study year is paid in full (9 700 euro / 11 500 euro) by 31 July 2023.

Bank account and Finnish ID for scholarship payments

The scholarship can only be paid in euro to your own bank account.

Most convenient, inexpensive and quickest way to receive the scholarship payment is to have your own bank account with International Bank Account Number (IBAN) for the scholarship application. The bank account should be located in an EU or EEA country, or in one of the following countries: Andorra, San Marino, Switzerland, or Vatican (countries suitable for SEPA payments).

In addition, you are recommended to provide a Finnish personal ID code for the scholarship payments during your studies. You can request for a Finnish personal ID code on residence permit application to Finland. Please see more information on Finnish Immigration Services website.

If you don’t have a residence permit in Finland at the time of the scholarship payment (e.g. studies have been completed online from outside Finland), the scholarship payment can be made to other than IBAN bank account and in this case the Finnish personal ID number is not required.

Refund policy

The paid tuition fee can be refunded to new students in the following cases only:

  • Residence permit for the studies arranged on campus is not granted. Please note that the fee cannot be refunded if the student withdraws the residence permit application.
  • The enrolment status is changed to non-attendant after paying the fee but before the enrolment deadline (15 July 2022 / 2 December 2022).

Programme-specific instructions for refund

  • Digital International Business (Bachelor, full-time): in this programme, it is possible to study remotely online for the autumn semester (22 August to 19 December). All students must be present at the Kouvola Campus on 9 January 2023, when the in-class studies begin.
    • If you are unable to start the in-class studies (a residence permit for the studies is not granted), you can ask for a refund of the Spring semester tuition fee payment after receiving the negative residence permit decision.
    • Because you can complete studies online during the autumn semester, that part of the fee cannot be refunded but you can apply for a scholarship based on studies you complete during the autumn semester (min. 27 ECTS credits). The scholarship is worth 50% of the fee paid for the autumn semester.
  • Game Design (Bachelor, part-time): in this programme, students must be present on campus by 9 February 2023. The next possibility to start studies after that will be in January 2024 with a new group.
    • If you are not able to join the studies on campus by the given deadline, the paid tuition fee will be automatically transferred to the spring semester 2024.
    • You can ask for a refund on the paid tuition fee if you receive a negative residence permit decision.
  • International Business Management (Master, part-time): in this programme, it is possible to study remotely online for the first semester, while waiting for a residence permit.
    • Because you can complete studies online during the spring semester, the tuition fee for the semester cannot be refunded even if you receive a negative residence permit decision.
    • You can, however, apply for a scholarship based on studies you complete during the spring semester (min. 27 ECTS credits). The scholarship is worth 50% of the fee paid for the spring semester (2 875 euro).
