The most popular program during this increase was Game Design, which is held at the Kouvola campus. The Game Design program had more applicants than ever before at Xamk, with 1,820 first-choice applicants and a total of 3,824 applicants. This means that 86.7 applicants applied for one study place.
Xamk’s overall appeal, as measured by the ratio of first-choice applications to available positions, reached a remarkable 5.1.
In addition to Game Design, other popular programs were the online Business Information Technology taught in Finnish and the English-language International Business Management program in Kouvola.
– English-language programs are of paramount importance to both Xamk and the entire South- Eastern Finland region, as we aim to promote internationalization through education-driven immigration. We have plans to expand our English-language program offerings and ensure that they include sufficient Finnish language studies to enhance employment prospects,” stated Heikki Saastamoinen, Xamk’s CEO and Rector.
In the fall application period, Xamk offered a total of 694 positions for Bachelor’s degree programs and 162 positions for Master’s degree programs, totaling 856 available slots.
Eligibility checks for applicants will be conducted in September. The results of the selections will be announced no later than November 24th, with studies commencing in January 2024. Looking ahead, the majority of positions will be available during the joint application period for spring in both foreign-language and Finnish-language programs.
