ENG: Welcome to hear Hungarian researcher Gulyás Barnabás (Eötvös Loránd University) present his recently published study – Hungary’s first on the youth sector – at the Mikkeli campus (D117) or via Teams. Brief summary of the research:
The research titled “Are You Involved in Youth Work? Research among Professionals and Volunteers Involved in Youth Work, 2023” (Hungarian title: Foglalkozol ifjúsági munkával? Kutatás az ifjúsági munkát végző szakemberek és önkéntesek körében, 2023) was the first study in Hungary to focus on the professional motivations, experiences, and working realities of youth workers and volunteers engaged in youth work.
The English-language version of the research report, presenting, analysing, and interpreting the survey results, is now available.
The study explored youth work and youth workers through the following thematic areas:
- professional values and motivations,
- needs, challenges, and future perspectives,
- professional practices and target-group focus.
The aim of the report is to provide youth workers, decision-makers, and organisations involved in professional development and advocacy with evidence and insights that can support their work and inform future plans, programmes, and policy decisions.

The event is organized by Juvenia, Xamk’s research and development unit for the youth sector, which has been collaborating with this Hungarian university for several years.
